Iceland through an Iphone

Approximately a month ago, I arrived in Iceland with a 20 pound backpack and my Iphone. Not knowing what to expect. I created a group with four strangers a month prior to share a 4 by 4 stick Dacia Duster to drive across the Iceland Route One. A group that consisted of me, two Canadians, a fellow American from Alaska, and a Romanian. Probably the strangest group you could think of.

After meeting the group for the first time, we set off for our adventure! We made our way south to Vik where we saw the black sand beaches, glaciers, and waterfalls.

After camping for the night which was my first time camping actually. We made our way east. East Iceland was more mountainous and I learn that my driving put people to sleep. Anyways, we camped on a beach where the sound of the waves crashing definitely gave us a good night sleep.

The beauty of the Icelandic Highlights. About 5 miles from where I camped for the first time.

This photo does not give this particular glacier justice. There were icebergs that were about 40-100 feet tall.

As we make our way up north, we saw the puffins and the landscape once again shifted. It was more mountainous and colder with temperatures around 35-40 degrees F.

As we continue to bond, we decided to do something that in hindsight was stupid. We decided to camp on a stiff cliff near the ocean. Since the majority of the group has some alcohol in our system, we didn't really think about the consequences. However, seeing the beautiful 2 am sunset and landscape can really persuade you.

My friend Tudor is freezing. At least the water is crystal blue.

As our road trip came to a come, we saw more of Iceland's beauty on the West Side of the Iceland which I thought was the most beautiful part of the island.

While it was only a week, it surely was an amazing adventure. Just to know next time to probably bring a film camera to capture these incredible moments!
